Congratulations, you've made it to the final day of the trip! Congratulations, we made it to the final day of the trip! No physical injuries. Slight mental deterioration. Memories to last a lifetime. Wins all around.
So, today, we return to Virginia. Another few hours in the car, through a rainstorm, trying to find a hotel. But what's that you say, a NASCAR race in Bristol? Yeah, no hotel rooms for miles and miles.
But first, we made a side trip to Greece.
The Athens of the South that is! Yes, Nashville has a recreation of the Parthenon. Because, you know, why not? And by "side trip" I mean we drove through Nashville to a park.
But then we headed out for the last stop of the trip. And what better way to finally arrive in the Commonwealth than by visiting Bristol. A little town that sits on the boarder of Tennessee and Virginia. (Note the VA flags on the right, and TN flag on the left.)
After Bristol, we stayed up in Roanoke for the night. In the morning, we enjoyed some Sweet Donkey Coffee and pastries, visited the Farmers Market, and started on our way home.
A drive through the clouds in the Shenandoah was a great way to end the trip.
Guess what? You made it home with us! Even though we hit horrible traffic around DC, we still made it back. With tons of laundry to boot!
So, there you have it folks. You made it. 4,920 miles, 176 gallons of gas, 19 states, and lots of good food! See you next time, when we'll be driving down the Pacific Coast!
